According to The Transfers Podcast, Ruben Amorim is keen to bring Geovany Quenda, the highly versatile 17-year-old from Sporting CP, to Manchester United. Quenda, a Portugal under-21 international, has already established himself in Sporting’s first-team setup and is expected to be targeted by several top European clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Barcelona.

Quenda, who was brought into the first-team picture in Lisbon by Amorim, has played 35 games for Sporting’s senior squad, scoring twice and providing six assists. Despite having a €100m release clause in his contract, a €60 million asking price is being floated for the talented teenager, who is contracted to Sporting until 2027 after signing a renewal in September.

Amorim Eyeing Quenda Reunion at Old Trafford

Born in Guinea-Bissau before moving to Portugal as a child, Quenda has been deployed by Amorim as a right wing-back. He is a quick, direct player and is seen by the Sporting coach as fulfilling a similar function to Patrick Dorgu, who was signed from Lecce for an initial €30m in the January transfer window.

Under new Sporting coach Rui Borges, Quenda has been used on the left side of midfield, but Amorim is keen to reunite with the talented youngster at Manchester United. “Amorim likes to have wing-backs playing as inverted wing-backs,” Duncan Castles tells The Transfers Podcast. “If he can get Quenda in, that would give him the ability to play both sides of his 3-4-3 system.”

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can secure the services of Geovany Quenda and convince the player that his interests are best served at Old Trafford. With several top European clubs interested in the talented teenager, United will need to act quickly and decisively to secure this highly sought-after signature.
